Come Home To Yourself

Angela Burgess | FEB 8, 2024

Greetings, Friends. As we near the New Moon and the first stirrings of Spring, I have been thinking about the Earth and all the ways she is waking up. In my part of the world, the sap is beginning to rise into the trees once again. The first daffodils are blooming. The sunlight is beginning to last a little bit longer each day. Birds are singing and the squirrels are chattering more frequently. Life is reawakening, returning, remembering. Life is coming home to Itself.

In my classes this week, we have been using Earth energy to reawaken our muscles and those parts of ourselves we may have forgotten during pregnancy and postpartum. The physical cue of hugging to the midline helps me remember the ability I have in every moment to come home to myself. To remember. To return. To reawaken.

Having a baby is an expansive experience. It stretches us past any place we have ever gone. This stretching is good for us so that we can know and grow ourselves, but sometimes it hurts. Sometimes we go too far and we know it. Sometimes it’s helpful to remember where we have been and return home. By hugging in with my muscles, I create a physical reminder that I can always return to center. Earth energy is all about boundaries. Just like a riverbed needs strong banks to hold the flow, so do our bodies need strength to allow our life force energy to flow.

What actions can you take to build your strength and come back to center?

How can you invite these actions into your yoga practice and life?

What boundaries can you create to set yourself up for more grace and ease?

Join me for my weekly offerings to explore coming home to yourself. I hope to see you on the mat.

xo.
